Ingredients

  • For the Sliders:
  • 1 pound ground beef (or plant-based alternative for a vegetarian version)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • For the Mushrooms:
  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 8 ounce cremini or button mushrooms, sliced

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried)

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • For Assembly:
  • 12 slider buns

  • 6 slices Swiss cheese, cut in half

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for toasting the buns)

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)

Directions

  • Prepare the Burger Patties
  • In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Divide into 12 small patties, slightly larger than the slider buns (they will shrink while cooking).
  • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes per side or until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 160°F for beef). Remove and set aside.
  • Sauté the Mushrooms
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter and add olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add minced garlic, salt, black pepper, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for another 3 minutes until mushrooms are tender and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat.
  • Toast the Buns
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Brush the insides of the slider buns with melted butter.
  • Toast them in the oven for 5 minutes or until lightly golden.
  • Assemble the Sliders
  • Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  • Add a generous scoop of sautéed mushrooms on top of each patty.
  • Place half a slice of Swiss cheese over the mushrooms.
  • Return the assembled sliders to the oven for 3-5 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
  • Spread a little Dijon mustard (if using) on the top bun, then place it over the melted cheese.
  • Serve & Enjoy!
  • Serve warm and enjoy these delicious, cheesy Mushroom Swiss Sliders!

Notes

  • Vegetarian Option: Swap the beef patties for portobello mushroom caps or plant-based patties.
  • Extra Flavor: Try adding caramelized onions for an extra depth of flavor.
  • Bun Choices: Brioche buns work great for a slightly sweet contrast to the savory mushrooms.
  • Cheese Variations: If you’re not a fan of Swiss cheese, try provolone or Gruyère for a similar melt and flavor.
